About Us

About Living Refuge

There is no single path to wellness. Our personal evolution is as unique as we are, and requires equally individualized attention and care. This simple truth is the soil that Living Refuge grew from, and it informs our practice in every way.


Our founder Dr. Nikki Davis, a clinical psychologist and yoga/mindfulness teacher, knows from both personal and professional experience that healing comes in many forms. Living Refuge is the manifestation of her dream to create a resource for others that helps them uncover their own inherent wisdom and compassion, the "living refuge" within all of us.


Living Refuge's collaborative recovery plans reflect influences from a variety of mental health and wellness schools of thought, including:

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Resilience-Informed Therapy

Finding Your Path

Living Refuge brings together various health and wellness services in individually-tailored ways for every client. This creates a roadmap for intervention, designed to initially stabilize acute distress before undertaking the task of finding and staying on course towards what Marsha Linehan calls a "life worth living." Here at Living Refuge, we see that life as one where we embody safety and compassion for ourselves and others, and cultivate resilience for the twists and turns of life as it unfolds. 


These services include:

  • DBT informed skills training
  • EMDR (Eye Movement  Desensitization and Reprocessing)
  • Mindfulness Based Interventions 
  • Nature Based Ecotherapy
  • Somatic Experiencing and related techniques
  • Psychedelic Psychotherapy
  • Somatic Yoga Therapy 
  • Breathwork


All services are provided in spaces designed to be trauma-informed, safe and accessible. We work concierge-style with providers in the community who compliment our approach. They include medical providers, psychiatrists, coaches, acupuncturists, nutritionists, chiropractors, herbalists, and other body workers (yoga therapy, energy work, craniosacral, lymphatic drainage, therapeutic massage, sound healing)

Being in Community

Humans are social creatures, and we function best when in connection with others in a safe and nurturing way.


In collaboration with our Collective and other community resources, Living Refuge offers various opportunities to connect with others in order to cultivate nourishing and rewarding relationships. These include:


  • Online and in-person support meetings for trauma and addiction recovery
  • Gender specific support groups/circles
  • Psychedelic harm reduction and integration gatherings
  • Mindfulness workshops, courses and retreats
  • Consultation groups for mental health and yoga professionals
  • Semi-private wellness, trauma and KAP intensives
  • Team building retreats
  • Nature-based community events


Some of these offerings are donation-based, and others require a financial commitment. Our intention is to make all of our services accessible to everyone, so please request financial arrangements via the “Contact Us“ option on this site if the need arises.
